FAQ

How many Agents are documented for Neon Abyss 2?
The current CapyDB reference lists ten Agents: Nik, Saya, Elise, Xuan, R-7, Mira, James, Lúcia, Tino, and Cassie. Saya is marked as DLC in that source.
Which Agent is available at the start?
Nik is listed as available from the start. The other documented Agents require a task, then the completed task must be claimed on the Tasks page in the Bar.
How do I unlock Saya?
CapyDB lists Saya as a DLC Agent whose task is to reach floor 5 successfully. Confirm the DLC entitlement and current task text in your game before relying on the route.
Which Agents use weapons or resources in unusual ways?
James carries two weapons, Lúcia gets an extra Curio and restores a Crystal after battles, Tino starts with a Wonder Jar and two Wonder slots, and R-7 converts hearts to shields at Death's Door.
Are Agent abilities ranked here?
No. This is an unlock and loadout reference. An Agent's value depends on the weapon, item, Faith, mode, and resources in the run, so the table does not claim a universal best Agent.

How Agent unlocks work

Agents are a persistent progression question, not a reason to invent a shortcut. The current CapyDB Agent unlock guide lists ten Agents and says that a completed task must be claimed on the Tasks page in the Bar. Nik is available from the start. Saya is marked as DLC. The task text below is secondary PC-build data, checked October 9, 2026.

Agent unlock and loadout table

Agent Unlock task Starting weapon(s) Ability or build hook
Nik Available from the start Windcaller Taking damage drops extra coins through Legacy Watch.
Saya (DLC) Reach floor 5 successfully Sakurafall and Pink Blaze Rabbit & Bear lets her switch to Sakura; Sakura’s level matches her primary weapon.
Elise Hatch eggs 8 times, accumulated Warming Plush Gloves brings Kiddy, who wakes nearby dazed Hatchmons.
Xuan Have 10 purple wisps at once in one run Fanchen Grazing bullets charges the Gourd; full charge clears nearby bullets and grants brief invincibility.
R-7 Have 7 shields at once in one run Andromeda At Death’s Door, Abnormal Chip converts hearts to shields and weapon damage rises as shields are collected.
Mira Use 30 bombs in one run Mania Damage throws clown bombs and draws a random card buff through Maniac Poker.
James Use 30 different weapons, accumulated Wildwolf Wedding Rings lets James carry two weapons and gives extra Soul Shards from extraction.
Lúcia Pick up 30 different Curios, accumulated Fluorescent Moon Crystal adds a Curio slot and restores one Crystal after each battle.
Tino Use 30 Wonder Jars Flow Broken Trinket starts with a random Wonder Jar and two Wonder slots; Passive copies the held jar and triggers damage once.
Cassie Open 100 locked chests Glint Carousel Music Box can unlock or steal goods; success depends on Luck and failure has a penalty.

The table separates an unlock task from the ability that makes the Agent different. That matters when planning a route. A player chasing Xuan or R-7 is not merely collecting a name; the task asks for a resource state inside one run. By contrast, James, Lúcia, and Elise use accumulated progress. The game may expose additional UI wording or DLC requirements after this check, so re-open the task entry before publishing a new shortcut.

Choosing an Agent for a run

Choose the Agent after naming the run’s main loop. Nik fits a coin plan because damage creates extra coins, while James creates a two-weapon decision that pairs naturally with the weapon upgrades guide. Lúcia’s extra Curio slot and Crystal restoration can support the resource questions in the item synergy guide. Elise, Tino, and Xuan each ask you to pay attention to companions, Jars, or wisps rather than simply adding flat power.

R-7 and Mira make damage events part of the plan, but that does not make taking hits a recommendation. Their hooks are descriptions of what the ability does, not a safe route through a room. Cassie’s Luck-based outcome has a stated failure penalty, so treat it as a risk decision. In co-op, the multiplayer guide explains which resources are personal and how each player receives a weapon level-up room.

For broader run planning, use the beginner guide first and the contextual weapon tier list only after reading its evidence limits. The list does not rank Agents, and this page does not claim that one loadout wins every mode.
