FAQ

How do I unlock the Faith system?
The current CapyDB Faith references say the Evolution Tree's Path of Faith must be unlocked before a Faith Pillar appears in the first room of each floor.
How does a Faith meter fill?
Each Faith has its own trigger, such as spending coins, granting wisps, collecting pickups, or using gambling machines. A full meter reveals that Faith's Temple on the floor.
Does Faith progress carry between floors?
No. The checked reference says the meter resets when the run descends, so visit the Temple on the current floor if your route depends on the filled meter.
Does changing Faith cost health?
Switching is free on floor 1. From floor 2 onward, the current reference says each switch costs a hit, which can be a heart or shield depending on the run's state.
Which Faith can change a boss route?
Psychedelism is route-sensitive in the checked boss guide: if it is active when Apollo is defeated, the result is Dark Eris instead of the normal Eris branch.

How the Faith system works

Once the Evolution Tree’s Path of Faith is unlocked, the current PC reference places a Faith Pillar in the first room of each floor. A Faith meter fills through the resource or action associated with that Faith. At 100, its Temple is revealed on that floor. The meter resets when the run descends, so a full meter is a floor decision rather than permanent progress.

Switching is free on floor 1. From floor 2 onward, the checked reference says a switch costs a hit. That cost makes the first room useful for deciding the route, while later switches should be reserved for a clear Temple or boss condition. The beginner guide covers the broader health budget; this page focuses on the eight Faith paths.

Eight Faiths and their triggers

Faith What fills the meter Temple
Agapeism Granting or hatching eggs Temple of Cuteness
Artisanism Granting Soul Shards Temple of Forge
Consumerism Spending coins Temple of Shopping
Dualism Crystal Objects fill Wisdom; Spike Objects fill Violence Temple of Wisdom or Temple of Violence
Fortunism Using gambling machines Temple of Gambling
Psychedelism Collecting pickups Temple of Acid
Thesaurism Picking up or spending keys Temple of Treasure
Umbrism Granting wisps Temple of Shadow

CapyDB lists Agapeism, Artisanism, Consumerism, Dualism, Fortunism, Thesaurism, and Umbrism as Evolution Tree paths, with Psychedelism unlocked through the Sudden Clarity task after defeating Eris. These are secondary unlock notes and should be rechecked if the tree changes.

Plan around the resource conflict

Faith progress can compete with the same resources that weapons and items need. A Crystal-dependent weapon may make Dualism’s Wisdom meter attractive but leave fewer Crystals for an enhancement. A key-focused run can fill Thesaurism while also needing keys for locked rooms. Agapeism and Umbrism ask for eggs or wisps that may be part of an Agent or weapon loop. The item synergy guide shows the same conflict from the item side.

Artisanism deserves a dated note. The official 1.0 announcement calls out an Artisanism Badge and Affix rework. The table records the current source’s trigger and Temple, but it does not infer extra Badge behavior that the checked evidence does not state. Use the weapon upgrades guide for Affix and Tempering rules.

Psychedelism and route planning

Psychedelism is the clearest boss-route example. The boss progression guide records the secondary route rule: defeat Apollo while Psychedelism is active to reach Dark Eris; the later Hyperion route requires Dark Eris to have been unlocked. Do not assume that merely collecting pickups earlier is enough if the meter has reset after descending.

For a normal run, choose one primary Faith question, fill its meter, and visit the Temple before leaving. In multiplayer, coordinate who is spending shared-looking resources even though the co-op guide describes personal pickups. Keep the Faith name, build stamp, and source date with any route note so a future patch can be compared cleanly.
